 Lecture Demonstrations

 Lecture demonstrations in classical music and dance are the star attractions that add sparkle to SPIC MACAY calendar. We work out for lecture demonstrations for the students of IT with a view to encourage the students to take part in cultural art forms. Held in varied locations in IT-BHU in the first half of the academic year, LEC-DEMS provide a stage for informal interaction between students and artists. We believe that the direct interaction of the students with the maestros of the rich Indian culture will make a difference than the other communications.

Fests

  The festivals (FESTS) series is a chain of concerts featuring the exponents of Indian Classical Music and Dance. This series takes place during the months of January to May all over the country. The FESTS also provides the students opportunity to witness several young and upcoming artists.

   SPIC MACAY IT–BHU organizes a festival of multiple cultural concerts Virasat every year. The festival showcases the talent of maestros of Indian classical music through its different concertsVirasat is a week long festival comprising performances and workshops in folk and classical arts, literature, crafts, theatre, held in different educational institutions.

Workshops on different art forms which envelope different arts like paintings, theatre, and drama and music sessions are conducted. We also conduct concerts as well as cultural nights (Budding artists get a golden opportunity to present their debut performances to an appreciate audience who may witness the birth of a star).

 Participatory Events:

We have many participatory events like below:

1:PALLAV : A student’s participatory event where the idea is talent searching within the students of different streams in creativity, art music, dance, theatre judged and advised by eminent people of various fields.
It itself is a multitude of events.
2:INTER SCHOOL\COLLEGE COMPETITIONS: Based on the same vision of SPICMACAY, and to create spirit of enquiry in the nation Builders of tomorrow competitions are arranged.
3:INDIVIDUAL CONCERTS BY STUDENTS: Some concerts of national repute students at nearby environs are to perform to encourage the competitive spirit in the audience.

INDIA CULTURE QUIZ

This event is one of the important role playing elements in encouraging the freshers, usually new comers to the institute, to participate and organize cultural activities. The event is solely organized by the freshers and for the freshers. Right from the fund raising, publicity and conducting the quiz and distributing prizes, to the participants. It’s a record in it history that it drew quite good funds (in profit) and large crowd around 37 teams. Along with 100-120 audience. But still the tradition of learning is inbuilt, hidden in any act of Spicmacay, here the freshers ask for directions from the seniors. Without which they would fail…

In general the questions would be asked from the literature surveys and epic of Indian culture and traditions or related to the art forms and

Yoga

Away from the humdrum routine of life, the participants experience live for a month which 'Gurus' who have dedicated their life that stress simple living and high thinking. This experience of good health, spirituality and simplicity leaves one more at peace with oneself and the world at large. Yoga, greatly neglected as a form of inner growth, is fostered in our yoga camps conducted by authentic yogachaóryas.

 

Weekly Meetings

This is one of the most essential aspect of our chapter. We conduct in the shed of the lord Shiva, Vishwanath temple-BHU to discuss the general aspects of Indian culture, our forth coming events and amendments on our work culture.

CONVENTIONS

   National: The national convention is a national gathering of the SPIC MACAY family hosted by any chapter. It happens annually in June.At every convention about 1000 people from all over India are present providing an ideal platform  for the intermingling of diverse cultural flavors. The duration of the convention is usually five days and consists of sessions relating SPIC MACAY`s own character, growth, directions, new trends and organizational structure. Besides this, there are concerts, folk arts and crafts, talks, yoga and films

State: A State Convention is an event called for in order to involve the chapters of particular state and to assess the progress of the ‘movement’ at the state level. Each state organizes two one or two day State Conventions annually.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  The scholarship scheme of SPIC MACAY is an attempt to offer students an aspiring and elevating experience. It is geared for students to go for a month to people (gurus) who have dedicated their lives ,outside of narrow  self motivation  to a larger cause. They have stuck to pursuit of their vision and work with single minded devotion.

OTHER RELATED ACTIVITIES

  Workshops, essays, exhibitions, films, celebrations of national /local festivals, environment and nature care ,study tours to places of cultural importance and other culture related activities.
