The Pharmaceutical Society of Department of Pharmaceutics, Banaras Hindu University, established in the year 1934 is a forum of students, staff members and alumni of the Department of Pharmaceutics, IT-BHU. The motto of the Society is “Let not pain and pestilence dormant men”.

The constitution of the Society is as follows:

President – Head of the Department

Vice-President – Elected from M Pharm Part I

Treasurer – Permanent teacher of the Department, nominated by the President

General Secretary – Elected from B Pharm Part IV

Joint Secretary – Elected from B Pharm Part III and above

Sports Secretary – Elected from B Pharm Part II and above

Cultural Secretary – Elected from B Pharm Part II and above

Literary Secretary – Elected from B Pharm Part II and above

Class Representatives – Elected from each class

The election of office bearers of the Society is conducted during the beginning of every academic session (i.e. in August). The Society has three wings namely literary, cultural and sports wings and every year the Society organises various literary, cultural and sports events to provide a platform for the students to develop their curricular and extra-curricular skills. The Society publishes its annual magazine “The Pharmstudent – The first journal published by the pharmacy students in India” and a quarterly wall magazine “Pharm-Fanzine”.

The Society organises an annual program, SPIRIT zenith of zest - the National level scientific and literary competition which is the most zestful and extraordinary pharma-fest that provides excellent opportunity for the entire pharma youth to elucidate their ideas and thoughts beyond boundaries, to innovate, invent and to acquire the innovative characters to make India a global leader in Pharmaceuticals.
